John Wesley

John Wesley, an American pop artist, was born in 1928. He began painting at age 22 with subject matter consisting mostly of large-format imaginary stamps and seals. Later he moved into the depiction of figures and cartoon characters which retained his spare technique and limited color range. Wesley considered his to work be aligned with Surrealism although some consider his work more reflective of Minimalism. He passed away in 2003.
