Since her early project, “Linear-Actions Project Cutting / Drawing” in 1999, Ambe has been working with the dynamics of cut-paper sculpture. Her past exhibitions include solo shows at Leo Castelli Gallery (New York), The FLAG Art Foundation (New York), SCAI THE BATHHOUSE (Tokyo), Lora Reynolds Gallery (Austin, Texas), and group shows at Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art (Arizona), Museum Brandhorst (Munich), Manchester Art Gallery (Manchester), and the Berarudo Collection Museum (Lisbon). In 2010, she was nominated for AICA-USA Exhibition Award and Nissan Art Award finalist in 2013.Her work is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, and the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York. Ambe holds a BFA in oil painting from Musashino Art University, Tokyo (1990).
