Shirazeh Houshiary
Shirazeh Houshiary was born in Shiraz, Iran in 1955. She moved to London in 1974 and received a BA from the Chelsea School of Art, London in 1979. She was Junior Fellow at the Cardiff College of Art from 1979-80, and her first solo exhibition was held at the Chapter Arts Centre in Cardiff in 1980. She rose to prominence as a young sculptor in the 1980s, and was shortlisted for the Turner Prize in 1994. Her body of work has grown to encompass painting, installation, architecture, and film. Houshiary currently lives and works in London.
