The B-52's
The B-52's were founded in Athens, Georgia in 1976. The original lineup consisted of Fred Schneider, Kate Pierson, Keith Strickland, Cindy Wilson, and Ricky Wilson. They began taking road trips to New York City to play at the legendary CBGB and soon landed a record deal and the release of a self-titled debut album in 1979. In 1985, after completing the studio sessions for their album, Bouncing Off the Satellites, Ricky Wilson died from AIDS, causing the band to go through a period of mourning and dedicating the album to him. The band has continued to make hits and is still active, producing seven studio albums to date along with various compilations, singles, and music videos. Some of their best known tracks are "Rock Lobster, Love Shack", "Summer of Love", and "Roam".
